This is our annual Valentines collection. If you’ve been with us a while, you’ll know I HATE valentines, so instead of the typical Valentine’s Day collection. We give a spotlight to incredible women that have been done wrong throughout literature, history, music, and/or current events.

So, this is our Valentine to them. I’m including a small write up of how they were done wrong, below the polish description. Feel free to skip it. There’s no quiz 😉

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO – THE 2024 WOMEN DONE WRONG COLLECTION!

Silent Builder is a Black jelly with flash glitter, silver holo, and a gold to green magnetic strip running through. I was inspired thinking of what the bridge may have looked like the night with fireworks illuminating it.

Emily Warren Roebling was an incredible woman born to an upper middle-class family in Cold Spring, New York, the second youngest of 12 children. Wife, mother, lecturer, student, world traveler, and clubwoman, this multi-faceted Victorian woman was a pioneering example of independence. Despite advice in early years that women needed no higher education, she studied mathematics science and engineering. Finally in 1899, at the age of 56, she topped it all off with a law degree from New York University (NYU).

What she is most known for however is the engineering of the Brooklyn Bridge. Emilys father-in-law was commissioned to build it but unfortunately fell ill and her husband took over, but then he became ill as well. With her husband confined to his sickroom and fearing he wouldn’t live to finish the project; she began to claim she was taking down copious notes on what he said “needed to be done” and relayed these notes to the crew. Every day, she went to the site to convey her “husband’s instructions” to the workers and to answer questions. She kept records, answered the mail, and represented her husband at social functions. Eventually she became so good at this that many suspected she actually was the intelligence behind the bridge, and they were right. Her husband hadn’t been capable of doing the work especially from a bed. However, it was thought that if people knew the bridge had been engineered by a woman no one would even be willing to walk on it let alone ride over it. At the time of the completion, it was recorded to be the 8th wonder of the world and the only one built by a woman even though her husband got the credit.

As we all know the bridge is still standing with never a single issue. That’s incredible engineering in itself and now you know the woman that built it!
