This is our annual Valentines collection. If you’ve been with us a while, you’ll know I HATE valentines, so instead of the typical Valentine’s Day collection. We give a spotlight to incredible women that have been done wrong throughout literature, history, music, and/or current events.

So, this is our Valentine to them. I’m including a small write up of how they were done wrong, below the polish description. Feel free to skip it. There’s no quiz 😉

Gertrude Bell is a brown crackle with holographic shards ghost flakes and glitter. I chose to give her a tan base to complete a safari outback outfit. The base is our Glitterati polish. https://www.popandpolished.com/product/glitterati/

Bell was born a very privileged wealthy woman. She went to Oxford University and discovered a passion for travel and archeology. Deciding not to marry she traveled extensively! In her travels, she expressed great affection for the Middle East, visiting Qatar, Iran, Syria-Palestine, Mesopotamia, Asian minor, and Arabia. She not only participated in archaeological digs but funded them during a time period of great ferment and new discoveries. She was dedicated to the preservation of Middle Eastern culture and history, putting her own life in jeopardy to do so. Many of the historical documents and artifacts we now have is directly because of the work, money and dedication of this woman, while it was not acknowledged, it is well documented within her own books as well as books written by her peers. She was known to be an expert and was often asked to advise other archaeologists and historians, often giving that assistance with no recognition. She lived a fascinating life and was truly an inspiration. It’s a shame the countries she loved and did so much for, have shown such cruel misogyny.
